Family Is Not Always Blood. Sometimes It Is Choice.
Engström & Co. is named in honour of my Swedish family — Anna-Marie, Anders, and Jonas Engström — who became my family through kindness, trust, belief, commitment, and consistency.
I was born in Asmara and raised through SOS Children's Village in Mekelle, Ethiopia, surrounded by caretakers, teachers, mentors, and a community that shaped who I am. They believed in me long before I understood what I was capable of. Ethiopia gave me my roots, my resilience, and my first understanding that family is not defined only by blood, but by the people who choose to stand beside you.
Years later, the Engström family became part of that same story, an ocean away. They believed in me, encouraged me, and reminded me to trust myself. One sentence they shared with me has stayed with me ever since:
"To us, you come across as confident and intelligent."
Those words became more than encouragement — they became a reminder to see potential in myself even when I struggled to.
Between Mekelle and Sweden, many people — caretakers, teachers, mentors, friends, aunts, and uncles — helped shape my journey. Each believed in me in their own way, at different moments in my life.
Engström & Co. exists to honour all of them. It is built on one belief: the greatest transformations begin when someone chooses to believe in another human being.
My faith and my experiences across both places I call home have shaped how I understand human flourishing. I believe that lasting wellbeing comes from living in alignment — not only physically or mentally, but as a whole person.
That conviction became the foundation of Sync Wellness: a platform designed to help people care for their mind, body, and spirit through thoughtful, personalised AI.
But Sync Wellness is only the beginning. Engström & Co. exists to build technology that serves people with empathy, integrity, and purpose — technology that helps individuals grow, organisations care for their people, and communities flourish.
Because sometimes the most important thing one person can do is choose to believe in another.
